Episode 7: Black Luv & American Politics

The sisters do a fairly chill check-in on the 7th episode of Timbs ‘n Teddies.  But does this millennial-xennial sister squad really have any chill?  Well, maybe not when it comes to American politics and the intersection of Black Luv.  Let’s face it – the US hasn’t been able to keep it’s paws off of the black family structure; at the head of this structure is the divine idealism of two becoming one.  Alas!  There seems to be a third party.  Is three a crowd?   The traditional love & respect between masculine and feminine energy in the black community just can’t seem to get far enough away from American politics to feel safe (or free).  It forcefully and annoyingly joins us during Netflix and Chill and while jumping the broom.  Will we ever be able to shake it off?  Or will we always end up at seemingly the most dangerous intersection in American HERstory – the intersection of Politic Ave & Black Luv Blvd???  ***please note: this podcast was recorded and published PRIOR to the official 2020 Presidential Election results.***

The 2020 Presidential Election was emotional (to say the least). But emotion brings forth sincerity in motion = CHANGE!. Emotion is saltwater turned tsunami. And our nation was in need of a purge – a clearing out. One question still keeps coming to mind: are our black men willing to walk beside us if our heels make us a bit taller, our voice comes with just a bit more depth in tone (never mind the girly shriek at the end), and our position is one of divine authority? Do black lives still matter to our masculine collective if indeed we (black women) are the ones leading the way? Are we so adhered to the traditional gender roles that we are stuck to past ideals that could, in fact, hold us back in this new world of ‘the-future-is-female’? I think the ballot results & episode 7’s verbal ponderings are only the beginning; episode 8 of TnT is sure to be a debatable doozy!

American Politics: What’s Black Luv got to do with it?

šŸ—£šŸ¤ŽšŸ—£ One of my favorite visual excerpts from the historical Nikki & Jimmy convo regarding the state of Black Luv during their time. Many things have changed; but so much has stayed the same. It was indeed a state of the union conversation between the two literary giants and one worth watching and reviewing again and again.

A ā€˜downhill’ chronicle…

From Bust-ass-Ville to Home-base šŸ’†šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø

Moments before this picture, I busted my ass trollop-ing DOWN the hill on the way to my car. I screamed, ā€˜ahhhhhhh’ and Bugg asked me if I was ok in a tone that read…dang ma, I would normally laugh but you fell REALLY hard; and so I’m worried as opposed to being amused. Because my fall was headed down the hill, I fell and then did a mini sliiiiiide into the valley. Let’s call this ā€˜first base’, shall we? Then I just laid there in the first-base-valley of Bust-ass-Ville. My boo, who was watching from across the parking lot, ran to my rescue with that same look of ā€˜worry as opposed to amused’ look in his eyes that Bugg had. And I thought, ā€œI wish y’all would just laugh – that’d be less embarrassingā€. They both insisted on helping me to my feet which embarrassed me more. I tried to resist their assistance at first. I probably could’ve chilled in first-base-valley for the remainder of the day; at least until the sun set. But nooooo, Mr. Massage Therapist and lil Miss Limber just had to grab either elbow and help the Grey-ish Tumble Weed onto her feet. It’s fine though. And I didn’t break na’er hip, wrist or ankle. So there! I got up. Second base. And made it to my car. Third base. With the help of those around me who find it necessary to help before they chuckle (ā€˜cause let’s face it…me. + falling. + sliding. + ā€˜resting’ in the valley. = ha+ha šŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’†šŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜†)! Home-base. Moral of the story – it’s sooooo easy to slip and fall when one is trollop-ing DOWNhill! Give credence to the side of the mountain that provides traction! That’s all folks.

šŸŽ¶ Comin’ up! On the rough side… of the mountain! šŸŽ¶
