Short-orders

During this quarantine my child is intent on making a short-order cook out of me. And ya know what? I’m going to oblige. I’m going to feed her with what her body naturally calls out for (within reason) and teeter between educating her and nourishing her. It’s all the same anyway. We’ve been granted the chance to be the stay-at-home moms are spirits have been running from for decades. The rest of the world can wait – we’ve got some ‘healthy-ing’ to do. Read that again. I could go on and on and maybe I will in a later post. But for now, I will leave you all with today’s lunch. And the recipe to go along with it. Be blessed. Feed your little ones! Feed your souls. Feed your future…with everything good.

Sour dough pepperoni pizza Grilled Cheese

Place 2 Slices of sour dough loaf bread into hot skillet already greased with butter or oil of choice. Lightly spread marinara sauce on the part of bread facing up. Place your choice of cheeses (we used mozzarella and sharp cheddar) on top of that. Work at a steady pace as to not burn your bread. Add your pepperoni slices. Mash down with a spatula so that everything sticks together, then carefully flip one side onto the other to form your sandwich. Keep flipping until you’ve reached your desired ‘toast’ level. Slice and enjoy!

Oftentimes, I am asked the origin and/or meaning of my name.  Shimah is a derivative of the name Shammah; Hebrew-Arabic in origin, with a biblical reference to Jehovah Shammah meaning 'God is present'.  It is pronounced with the accent on the second syllable and the only one who shortens it on a consistent basis is my mother.  I think I've been looking for ways to ground myself since birth - love grounds me, as does the written word.  And so, here we are!  Please explore the menu on the homepage; here you will find the different areas in which I express myself through script.  Be it impromptu poetry, editing work, my ever-growing children's literature series, or the socially conscious (yet personally knotted) blog, it all siphons into creating and expression by way of the written word. I refer to myself as the Maternal Head of a beautiful little girl who lovingly just calls me mommy.  If you've gotten through this lengthy bio then I will assume you've got time today... so, please leave me a note - the literates are in need of inspiration and constructive feedback from time to time.  Take care of your soul and I'll see ya'll 'round the way.
